Wons Tons Marion’s Chinese Cooking Course Recipe #2

Won Tons -Pork

  • Wonton Skins
  • 1 pound Lean Pork, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp Sherry
  • 1 Tsp Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Light Soya Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp Oil
  • 4 Scallions, chopped
  • 1 Slice Ginger, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp Salt

Do Ahead:

Marinate chopped meat with all ingredients except the egg. Let marinate for 2 – 3 hours.

Place 1 Tbsp filling in center of won ton skin. Moisten half of the outer edge with beaten egg, then fold other side over to seal – will resemble a triangle. Now fold and bring ends together and moisten with more egg to hold.

Bring 2 – 3 quarts water to a boil. Drop won tons in (about 20 at a time). Keep water boiling. When Won Tons rise to the top, remove and drain well. They are now ready to put into Chicken Broth to make Won Ton Soup.

They can also be deep fried from uncooked state and eaten as an appetizer with plum or Sweet and Sour Sauce.
