French Bean Casserole

FavoriteLoadingAdd to Recipe Box

I love vegetables cooked until they are just crisp and served quite plain. However it is always nice to have a new taste and this French bean casserole is definitely a keeper. This is often on the Christmas menu of many cooks. Very easy to prepare.

  • 2 packages frozen French Beans
  • 1 can Mushroom soup
  • 1 can sliced Water Chestnuts
  • 1 tin Fried Onions
  • Sliced almonds

Place the beans in a casserole dish. Drain the water chestnuts (save liquid) and mix into beans. Pour mushroom soup, about ¾ of onions and liquid on top and mix all. Cook in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Crumble fried onions and with the almonds sprinkle on the top. Cook for another 10 minutes. Serve immediately.
*You can use fresh beans and precook them slightly. You can also add crumbled bacon to this.
