Meghan’s Scones

My Granddaughters make these wonderful scones all the time. It seems they take turns making them. One of the girls is thirteen and the twins are nine. Luckily for us they are happy to share with us. We like them so much that I have decided I need to try them myself.

Ingredients for Scones

  • 3 cups Flour
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 5 Tsp Baking Powder
  • ½ Tsp Salt
  • ¾ cup Butter, cold
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 1 cup Milk + 4Tbsp
  • *Frozen Berries (defrost)

Method for Scones

Preheat oven to 400º. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets or use parchment paper.
In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter. Mix egg and milk in small bowl and stir into flour mixture.
Turn dough onto **heavily floured surface and knead briefly. Add berries if using.
Roll out to ½ inch thick round and cut into wedges.
Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown.

*Can use the berries frozen
**Experiment with the flour as you knead the dough will take up some of this flour.
