Recipe for Mustard Sauce
This mustard sauce is a natural with ham and will keep for several weeks in a covered jar in the refrigerator. I love the taste of mustard sauce with ham and at Christmas time we make another mustard sauce  that has pineapple of glazed cherries in it.
This mustard sauce is plainer, keeps better, and can be used in any season. We have it as part of our Easter recipes as we always have ham for our Easter dinner.
INGREDIENTS for Mustard Sauce
- Â¾ cup Granulated Sugar 175 mL
- Â¼ cup Dry Mustard 50 mL
- 2 tbsp All-Purpose Flour 25 mL
- Pinch Salt Pinch
- 2 Eggs 2
- â…” cup White Vinegar 150 mL
- â…“ cup Water 75 mL
- 2 tbsp Butter 25 mL
METHOD for Mustard Sauce
In top of double boiler, stir together, sugar, mustard flour and salt. Blend in eggs. Gradually stir in vinegar and water.
Place over simmering water and cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and bubbles, about 8 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in butter. Stir occasionally as it cools to prevent skin from forming on top. Store in covered jar in refrigerator. Makes 2 cups (500 mL).
