Maple Syrup Green Beans

Recipe for Maple Syrup Green Beans

We eat a lot of green beans as they seem to one of the vegetables that are readily available in our local supermarket. I usually steam them and we quite enjoy them just plain. However this recipe for maple syrup green beans gives a lovely sweet alternate to the beans. It is also a great way to introduce children to green beans. They love the sweet taste.

Ingredients for Maple Syrup Green Beans

  • 2 cups green beans
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • Salt and pepper

Method for Maple Syrup Green Beans

Steam green beans until softened. Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the maple syrup and green beans sauté for a few minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste and serve.

Note: To add some crunch you can add either toasted sesame seeds or toast cashews chopped.
